Matthew Whitehead is the main antagonist of Harry's Island. He's an obnoxious and comically evil little spaceman who lives above Harry's Island in a space warehouse and does everything he can to either escape or invade the island. Along with his army of Dumb Daleks, Mouse Cursors and Druggybirds, he frequently butts heads with Harry Bradshaw and Otto Layfield, and tries to win the affections of Elouise Pitman despite harming the wildlife that she loves.

Entrance: Hippopotamus

Matthew snorkles into the stage with his title face like a hippo.

Move Origin

The original drawing of Matthew Whitehead, said to look like a hippopotamus. The funny thing is, it looks very similar to the zombie from Super Zombie World but that's actually a coincidence.

Playstyle

Matthew is an incompetent villain whose spaceship is stranded above the island where Harry Bradshaw thrives. He aims to rid the island's stinky wildlife so his supposed girlfriend Elouise can call it home. This makes him a man of many moves yet with plenty ways to screw up. Examples vary from his spacesuit slowing him down to his goons having weak spots.

Neutral B: Wildlife Harming

Matthew enters his Extermitron used for harming the wildlife. You can stance inside the Extermitron as long as B is held. While inside, you can use tilt controls to attack in different ways.

• Tilt in front of Matthew to plow forwards and mow down anyone in his rightful path. Beware of walls, ledges or even the screen. However, combing someone's trap will only affect the Extermitron leaving Matthew unharmed. Doing this then results in a 10 second cooldown.
• Tilt behind Matthew to saw opponents from behind. Its output is raw in exchange for pitiful range.
• Tilt upwards to swat anyone in the air paralysing them. You can dismount from the Extermitron while doing this.
• Tilt downwards to light a fire that spit projectiles at nearby opponents.

If you attack the Extermitron with Matthew inside then he will be stunned as it crumbles down. And if you hold B for too long without an input, then the Extermitron will explode, knocking back anyone who comes near him. Matthew himself will surprisingly not receive damage from this however but will be paralysed.

Move Origin

Matthew uses different inventions to help destroy the dirty wildlife in Harry's Island. The Extermitron is one of his most recurring inventions.

Side B: Mouse in the Way!

Matthew throws a Mouse Cursor, which stops anything in its way. Additionally, you can hold B to control the cursor's movement like Din's Fire. While doing this, you may release to switch back to Matthew while the cursor stays on the spot for 5 seconds, waiting for its prey. In either state, it will latch on to opponents, including Matthew himself, slowing their speed. You can escape the cursor's pesky grasp by mashing attacks to free yourself, at the cost of recoil damage. You can also release the mouse near an item to receive it, should it be unharmed in the process. With an already possessed item, it will have to wait until Matthew disposes of it. If the mouse is both armed AND harmed, anyone can collect the item it takes. As a tradeoff for no cooldown, Matthew will simply replace the mouse onscreen.

Move Origin

The Mouse Cursor is an enemy in Harry's Island which winds Harry up if it blocks his sight. It is one of Matthew's common minions.

Up B: Falling Drugberry

Matthew clings onto a big fat Druggybird to slowly recover. To Druggyboost while recovering, press B to drop a falling Drugberry, which poisons anyone who makes contact. The bird's hitbox also becomes much smaller with the Drugberry out of its system. Matthew also cannot steer during the Druggyboost. You can also tilt down while holding B to fire the Drugberry into the sky instead plummeting Matthew as a downward missile.

Another enemy in Harry's Island which flies and poops falling drugberries as weapons.

Down B: Work for Dumb Daleks

Hold Down B and Matthew will set a disk which can only be controlled horizontally. Release B and a Dumb Dalek will emerge from the chosen shot. The Dumb Dalek will independently slide across the stage, smashing into anybody in the way. Both Matthew and the Dumb Dalek use ground attacks at the same time, which can lead to setups. They can't jump, therefore they won't respond to any of Matthew's aerials. But since they're dumb, wall collisions may cause them to malfunction. The malfunctioning Dumb Dalek will still pose as a hazard until it's destroyed, damaging anyone close enough. If Matthew tries to summon a Dumb Dalek while in the air, it will slow his fall. Only one Dumb Dalek can be summoned to dumbly roam the stage at a time.

Move Origin

Matthew's main servants in Harry's Island are the Dumb Daleks, the clumsy versions of the Daleks from Doctor Who.

Final Smash: Matthew's Kill

Matthew rides his ultimate weapon. The walk controls allow you to move and jump backwards in addition to firing pizzas from Matthew's belly. Dashing the other direction swings Matthew's Kill as he turns, dealing damage to anyone nearby. Vertical inputs help you catch opponents on higher platforms. You can also hold down any pizza button (either A or B) to evacuate from the Kill prematurely, electrocuting nearby opponents in the process.

Move Origin

Matthew's main secret weapon in Harry's Island as well as his main wildlife harming gadget. The kill's design is based on a hybrid of various inspiration concept art from way back in 2011.

Down Taunt: Matthew points forward and orders "Do as you're told." He then adds in a robotic voice "Negative!"

Victory Options and Losage

Option #1: Matthew prays to a Dumb Dalek standing next to him and declares "ALL HAIL THE DALEKS!"

Option #2: Matthew says "This is pants!" He then chants "Pants! Pants! Pants!"

Option #3: Matthew points at the loser(s) yelling "Detention!"

Owen: Boss, that's Matthew Whitehead. His ship is stranded so he can only count on Harry's Island to survive. But it stinks so badly that nobody wants to go near him.

Angry Boss: So, that's why he always covers himself in a spaceman suit?

Owen: No, that's not the point. He wears his spacesuit to resist enough knockback in his centre of gravity. And he's the long time rival of Harry Bradshaw.

Jeremy Gilman: A 1, a 2, a 1, 2, 3, 4...

Owen and Jeremy: Humans eat nuts! Humans eat nuts! Humans eat nuts!
