Neptune is the general main protagonist of the Hyperdimension Neptunia video game series, as well as its anime adaptation. She is the human form of Purple Heart, the CPU of Planeptune. She is a happy, excitable girl with a very strong sense of justice. Her ditzy personality causes her to be very careless at times which can either help her or land her into serious trouble. She makes friends rather easily due to her friendly nature and often gives them cute nicknames. People admire her optimistic outlook and confidence. She never gives up or backs down when the going gets tough and she makes sure to see her objective through to the very end. She also has the tendency to break the fourth wall a lot, and is a big lover of pudding.
Playstyle[]
Neptune is the personification of an alt timeline where SEGA is still in the Console War. This is the reason why Neptune is so childlike and refuses to do her job compared to the goddesses who personify the companies that still produce consoles. Since she insists she's the main character and knows she's in this very series, she likes to break the fourth wall a lot without the ordinary buffing and nerfing abilities. Not to mention she has a move with even more recovery height than her Up-B!
Entrance: Fall From the Sky Cus Neptunia Moveset[]
Neptune falls from the sky and crashes onto the stage while screaming "MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE!"
Move Origin[]
In various Neptunia games as well as the anime, Neptune usually falls down from the sky before plummeting down on the ground.
Neutral B: Puddingo[]
Neptune throws a pudding forward to give opponents their just deserts. If she misses, she will leave a caramel puddle on the floor. If Nep walks over it, she can be launched upwards, but only vertically. Anyone else who trespasses on her pudding will be launched depending on their damage percentage. You can even activate the Puddingo in midair, but again, you will only be launched vertically. The peak here is actually higher than Nep's Up-B, with the former not rendering you helpless in preparation for the latter. Multiple puddings cannot exist on the ground at once but you can still fling as many as you desire.
Move Origin[]
This move comes from Super Neptunia RPG, where Neptune is able to use the Puddingo to reach higher platforms.
Side-B: Nep Bike[]
Neptune transforms into her motorcycle form. You can move back and forth while pressing B to trigger the bike's time travel mods, rendering you unable to steer while active. If Nep touches someone, this will revert their moves back to how they were prior to their Patch Surgeries. The respective nerf only applies to those who are near the bike during its time travel state. Dodging or counterattacking while the state's active avoids the effect. Each dated characteristic lasts for 15 seconds. Or you can make things early and call off the ride early with a normal attack.
Move Origin[]
In Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls, due to mysterious circumstances, Neptune's soul possessed IF's motorcycle, forever trapping her inside, and causing the bike's color to change from green to "eggplant-colored". Despite being a bike, Neptune is able to talk in this form, with her demeanor having not changed from her human form, and can express her emotions through her voice without any limitation. She inherited the ability to travel through time from IF's original bike, allowing her and other characters to travel through different timelines.
Up-B: True Goddess[]
Neptune will transform into her HDD form, Purple Heart, and briefly launch herself upwards before transforming back into her human form. As a trade-off for less recovery height than her Neutral B, you can thrust wherever you want. Nep will also be shielded by the aura known as "Share Energy" pre-flight. You can press A to cap off your transformation with a cross combination, or press B to lose your HDD form and meteor yourself to the ground.
Move Origin[]
Purple Heart is the HDD/Goddess form of Neptune, and is able to switch to this form when she has enough Share Energy. Not only does she change physically, becoming much taller and more developed but she also changes mentally as well, becoming much more serious and mature.
Down-B: Do Your Best![]
Neptune enters a stance. If you survive the whole stance without flinching, your strength will be tripled for 15 seconds. Additionally, if you do somehow flinch midway through the stance, not all will be lost, but you'll be stuck with a 1.5x buff instead. You can even use the move on teammates during Team Battle to boost their stats instead, with the input controls moving in order of their displayed HUDs. Keep in mind that if you try to stack up during either buff ratio, your output will revert back to normal. With all of her teammates under the effect at once, the gamble only applies to Neptune.
Move Origin[]
In various Neptunia games, Neptune is able to boost the stats of her allies during gameplay by activating "Do Your Best!"
Final Smash: Time For Some Nepicness![]
Neptune says "I have something real special for ya!" and heads to her Basilicom, where she'll proceed to murder the fourth wall by taking out an old All Star Smashers video game cartridge, and will suck her opponents inside it, taking everyone back to the Go!Animate days of the series. All you need to do is tilt the control stick during the time limit, and Neptune will be able to attack opponents in various ways. Anyone who's under the effects of time travel will change appearances to their retro looks, restricting their movement to mere walks and jumps. A full list of retro looks can be found here. Vertical and horizontal inputs are quicker while diagonal inputs cover more ground and land an instant kill on opponents with restricted movement. After breaking the fourth wall, the fourth wall will attempt to break whoever's still on screen, potentially KO'ing them before everything reverts to normal.
Move Origin[]
This move is based on every single fourth wall break ever in the Neptunia franchise.

Angry Boss Codec[]
Angry Boss: Who the heck is this high spirited girl?
Paul Douglas: Boss we cannot retrieve any data for this fighter.
Angry Boss: What? More need to know. SHOW IT!
Owen Maddox: Well, whoever she is, she must be an intruder from another dimension!
*Neptune unexpectedly interrupts the codec*
Neptune: Bingo! Right on the money! Specifically, I am the Hyperdimension version of myself. Though none of this is canon anyway so agree to disagree!
Angry Boss: Hey, get out of my office, squirt!
Neptune: Sorry, no can do it, chief! Besides, this codec's purpose is to seek out my weaknesses, no? Well, you can't do that without the main attraction, therefore me stays.
Angry Boss: What the-No one turns themselves in like that. This must be all Bruceton's doing!
Douglas: Boss you cannot blame everything on Bruceton.
Maddox: Yeah, I believe that would be called normalizing. Besides, even if she was the spy, we'd already have the intel.
Victor Vam Pire: Owen, not that I'm one to talk, but even if that's true, that's still kinda sketchy.
Jeremy Gilman: Everything she says sounds believable to me. Can we at least get your name?
Neptune: Thought you'd never ask, but I'm glad you did! I'm Neptune, goddess of a little nation in the Hyperdimension called Planeptune, and this series' new mascot!
Everyone else: ...
Neptune: Hmm... I was kinda expecting a bigger reaction than that.
Maddox: She? A goddess? Her?
Angry Boss: With someone like her in charge, Planeptune is definitely funked.
Douglas: For once, I don't object.
Neptune: Hey! That's mean! But I guess that's to be expected from a company that's only hired one girl...
Fluttershy: ...
Angry Boss: Wait, you heard that? I apologise, Ne... Sorry, I forgot your name already. Man, I'm old.
Maddox: Don't beat yourself up, Boss. All of us are having trouble pronouncing her name. And it's literally the same name as the god of the sea.
Neptune: Running gags can't be helped, can they? But if you're feeling old, allow me to show you the time travel mods of my nepping bike form. That way my Final Smash would make you feel fresh as pudding! That's your advice for fighting me. Laters!

Trivia[]
- Besides being a playable character, Neptune also appears as the host of the ASStation segments, usually announcing new content for All Star Smashers.
- Neptune was the first character to receive a Board the Platforms video.
- Similar to The Hills, Neptune's moveset was showcased alongside Big Nep's moveset as a Double Moveset showcase.
- The format for the Double Moveset is different from the usual format, instead being based on the Teach Me Histy tutorials from the Neptunia games, where Histoire explains the moves and their purposes. For Neptune's Side-B and Down-B however, the explanations were instead done by IF and Compa respectively.
- Neptune can be played with either her English or Japanese voice. This also applies to Big Nep.
- Neptune sometimes says “Jump!” and occasionally “Like a Kangaroo!” when she jumps. Likewise, when dodge rolling, she will sometimes say “Like the wind!”
